The Cyber Bowl, which will run from Oct. 1-31, engages students, faculty and staff in cybersecurity with some friendly competition. Ten of the state's top universities are competing to see which campus is the most cyber smart.

In 2024, NC State University, Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill competed in the inaugural Cyber Bowl. The competition expanded the second year to include North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, East Carolina University, Winston-Salem State University, UNC Wilmington and Elizabeth City State University.

This year, Appalachian State University and Western Carolina University have joined the competition. At the end of the month, two winners will emerge — one winner for the highest participation percentage and one winner for most players.

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. The Cyber Bowl is a fun and educational way to raise cybersecurity awareness — essential for everyone in the digital age. Cybersecurity is not only about protecting your devices and data, but also about protecting your identity, your reputation and your future.
